Annual Technical Conference - MT Chapter SWCS annual technical conference will be held January 29-30, 2009 at the Depot, Billings, Montana.  The subject of this year's conference will be soil quality and sustainability (call for posters)

Soil Painting Kits - Paint a picture with soils from Montana.  Order some today for your students!

EPA Nonpoint Source Outreach Toolbox - a comprehensive set of web-based resources designed to assist communities across the U.S. conduct locally effective watershed educational and outreach activities.

Montana SWCS Endowment Contribution Match Initiative - The MT SWCS Board of Director's has authorized an initiative to match (1:1) private contributions to the Chapter's Endowment in an amount up to $9,000 over the next two years.  The goal of this initiative is to attain a minimum Endowment balance of $25,000 which will provide revenue to fund qualified Chapter's educational activities.  A brochure is in development to inform SWCS members, estate planners, and the general public about the Endowment and the Montana Tax Credit for Endowed Giving.  To affirm the purpose and to guide management of The Endowment, the Board approved an Endowment Plan of Operations.  Day to day management ad administration of The Endowment is provided by the Montana Community Foundation which is a philanthropic support organization helping many non-profit organizations to build Montana's future.  To make a donation, contact Ed Musser at 406/587-4421.

Membership  - In an effort to improve member services and the direction of the Montana Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS), we ask that you to take a few minutes to the questions in the attached documents.  (informal questions) (membership workplan)

A producer record book has been compiled to provide Montana producer a tool for tracking and updating their production records.  The chapter acknowledges the committee who developed this record book and especially Emily Guldborg for her efforts in the development of this useful tool. The Montana Chapter's goal is to make this record book a useful tool.  Please provide comments on using the record book so it may be enhanced to meet the needs of producers across Montana.

Circle of Earth BraceletsCelebrate Earth Day whenever you please, by learning new ways to keep our planet healthy.  Start by making a "Circle of the Earth" bracelet that helps to illustrate how everything on Earth is related to everything else.  The Montana Chapter is providing instructions and materials for assembly of the bracelets.  Contact Heidi Brewer for a "free" packet.
